Tears Shed by a Girl Reeler
One day in September 1948 the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung visited the then Cholwon Silk Mill in Kangwon Province.
Upon receiving the greetings of the manager of the factory, he moved to the reeling workshop.
Looking at the workers fixing the ends of silk threads onto the winding machines in a steamy atmosphere, he said to the official that the air was quite steamy, that the conditions for work of the workshop were not good, and that fans should be installed to remove the steam.
He asked the manager who was honoured to be a model worker.
When the manager introduced a girl reeler, he asked her to show him her hands.
Feeling her hands, he said sadly that her hands were all swollen as she worked with her hands immersed in hot water. He said that the reelers were suffering from swollen hands and measures should be taken to supply them with good medicine.
The girl reeler and the manager shed tears moved by his parental care.
