Efforts to Terminate Tuberculosis

March 24 is World Tuberculosis Day.
Tuberculosis is still a serious public health concern because it threatens human life and safety as it causes high morbidity and death and disability rates.
The World Health Organization said that 10.7 millions of people contracted tuberculosis in 2024, with the number of deaths amounting to 1.23 million which is 3 percent lower than the previous year.
In the DPRK, the effort for terminating tuberculosis is gaining momentum with the active support of the Government.
Curative and preventive institutions and first-aid medical service units are further improving the quality of medical service and taking thoroughgoing measures to find and treat TB cases through regular all-population check-up.
The Korea Fund against TB & Malaria and other relevant organizations are also playing active role in the effort to terminate TB.
Thanks to their positive efforts, many Koryo therapies for effectively treating and preventing tuberculosis have been introduced.
