Devotion for More Than 30 Years

Kim Kyong Ok, head nurse of Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, has devotedly worked as a nurse for more than 30 years.

She started her career as a nurse at the anesthesia and operation department of Pyongyang Maternity Hospital. Then she was transferred to the general outpatient department where she worked as a nurse and then chief nurse. During this period, she helped in thousands of surgical operations on obstetric and gynecological patients and made devoted efforts to bring most serious cases back to life.

After she was promoted to the head nurse of the hospital, she led the nurses to possess a high level of ability and warm sincerity through her practical examples.

She organized an exhibition of nurses’ inventions and conceptions every year marking the founding anniversary of Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, so that all the nurses of the hospital could actively turn out in technical innovation work.

She produced several innovative proposals. Following her example, nurses of the hospital made valuable inventions by pooling their wisdom and applied them in the treatment of patients.

She also made an exacting demand on all the nurses to be prompt, scientific and friendly in nursing.

The country put her forward as a meritorious person of socialist patriotism for her devoted work for decades.
