Medical workers of the Rangnang District Hospital call Kang Yong Ok, a doctor of the hospital’s dental branch, a passionate and persevering practitioner.
This is because she, busy as she is treating patients, has developed medical appliances and new treatment methods, making a great contribution to further strengthening the material and technical foundations of the dental branch.
When graduating from Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences she developed tetracycline-chitosan film for treating inflammatory periodontitis for which she received certificates of invention of national significance. After graduation she continued with her research work.
In the course of constantly reading and analysing the country’s situation of dental field and advanced data, she chose anything as her research task if it was necessary for and helpful to treatment and made strenuous efforts to implement it.
In this way she developed medical appliances such as electric periodontal probe, ultrasound scaling transformer, electrolytic grinder, pulp diagnostic device and oral photographer, as well as efficacious medicines like active mouthrinse and synthetic amino acid dragee.
In addition, she has also invented valuable treatment methods such as immature tooth root development and closure induction by revascularization.
Her research achievements have been appreciated at various exhibitions and festivals.
