With High Medical Skills

The Cardiovascular Surgical Department of Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences Hospital is an established medical team that pioneered the field of cardiovascular treatment for the first time in the DPRK.

Around the end of last year a worker from a mine in South Hamgyong Province was rushed to the hospital. Earlier he was diagnosed with Valsalva, ruptured arteries and severe cardiac failure. 

His condition was so critical that his colleagues and family members almost gave him up. 

However, the medical team of the cardiovascular surgery department led by its chief O Kyong Sok got together to confirm a rational operation method and then performed a successful operation, bringing hope and joy of recovery to the patient and his family. They proceeded to give him 34 days of intensive treatment. Thus the patient left the hospital in good health. 

Also, they worked out new, effective operation methods and applied them to the patients with different types of symptoms.

In particular, they invented and introduced new operation tools including hook for minimally invasive venesection and advanced treatment methods including heart operation method by the incision of right chest wall, thus remarkably shortening the treatment period of cardiovascular diseases.

Whenever patients thank him, the department chief says that he accepts them as a request of the people to possess higher skills and show warmer devotion.
