For Providing Adequate Nutrition for Children

Great efforts are channelled into nutrition administration of children in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in June last year established it as a policy to provide all the children across the country with dairy products and other nutritional supplements, and the Sixth Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly held in February this year adopted the DPRK Law on Childcare. As a result, children at nurseries and kindergartens are provided with more nutritious foods such as dairy products, kelp and fruits at state expense.

Sopho-dong No. 1 Nursery in Hyongjesan District, Pyongyang, is paying close attention to nutrition administration of children. They discuss the diet menu of children more than once a week and change it several times so as to ensure that children eat nutritious foods in a reasonable proportion, not having an unbalanced diet.

Thanks to daily supply of dairy products and sincerity of the officials and nurses, children are growing stronger as the days go by, which gives pleasure to their parents.

Hyon Myong Hui, head of the nursery, said that they would fulfill their role in bringing up the children in good health.
