Intensive Check-up and Treatment for Workers
Deep at night on June 21, 1977, the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il summoned a senior official of South Hamgyong Province.
After greeting the official, Kim Jong Il excused himself by saying that he called him late at night to inquire about problems arising in the life of the workers at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and urged him to tell him the problems if any.
The official said that some old workers were suffering from poor teeth.
Kim Jong Il rebuked the official for not having reported that issue earlier, before declaring that production is important but what is more important is the health of the workers and that fertilizer cannot be produced without them.
The official said that he would mobilize the medical workers in the province for the intensive check-up and treatment right after the tight-scheduled campaign of chemical fertilizer production.
But Kim Jong Il told him to take the measures at once as the issue was directly related to the workers’ health.
As a result, intensive check-up and treatment were organized for the workers of the complex when fertilizer production for the current fertilization period was at its height.
