A Day Dedicated for the Good of the People

One day in June 1986 President Kim Il Sung visited Kim Man Yu Hospital.

Walking through the entrance gateway, he learned about the number of floors, the area and the layout of the rooms of the outpatient ward. He said with satisfaction that it was good to build the structure on such a large scale as to cover the outpatient services in a ward.

He then went round the pharmacies dealing with modern medicines and traditional Koryo medicines and CT room on the first floor. Going up to upper floors by a lift, he looked round the ten modernly-equipped operating theatres and peculiarly-designed intensive care units.

When he looked round an in-patients room of the heart surgery department, much time had passed. The officials tried to guide him to a lounge so that he could have a rest.

But he said that although it was raining and the weather was bad, he would go up to the 15th floor.

After he looked round all the in-patients rooms and the dining hall on the 15th floor, he went out to the balcony where the patients can have a stroll after having a meal. He said that the balcony commanded a bird’s-eye view of Pyongyang and that the hospital had been built on an ideal lot.

The president spent that day for promoting the people’s health.
